Cannonball 8000 - Cancellation of the 2008 Destination Rome Event

As all our clients will know, we at Calibre Auto Logistics have been enthusiastic supporters of the Cannonball 8000 event and had been planning to provide a return to home service from Rome, the 2008 destination, for the competitors’ cars much as we had done from Rome in 2005, Budapest in 2006 and Zagreb last year.
We are very saddened by the circumstances surrounding the cancellation of the 2008 event and much troubled that it seems that so many competitors, including our clients, will suffer financial loss.

For our part, we wish to stress that Calibre Auto Logistics is refunding all monies it has received from intending clients for the 2008 Destination Rome event support package in full. We want to thank them and, indeed, all our past Cannonball 8000 customers for choosing our service to get their prestige vehicles back to the UK in a safe and timely manner.

With an eye to the future, we are talking to the organisers of a new event organised along the same lines in 2009 called ‘The Green Ball Run’ with a view to supporting that in much the same way. It will be a non-profit making event with all money being raised donated to Cool Earth. It is hoped that an event with an environmentally friendly payoff will persuade formerly reluctant national authorities to permit the passage of the event through their territories.

With an eye to the past, we don’t want to forget that the Cannonball events in 2005, 2006 and 2007 were hugely enjoyable and that they probably were unique in their concept.  ‘Plus ça change’ as our cousins across the Channel say. We have decided therefore to leave our photo galleries of the three successful and happy events on line to help with the good memories.
